Windows Core OS

Ultimate proof of the existence of a new system.

Information about the still unannounced Windows Core OS came to us cyclically, but only now we have noticed the first mention, which is official proof of its existence. In the documentation of Windows 10 1903 Windows Core OS name appears repeatedly – straight out. Interestingly, the document was published on April 19 this year, but only now more attention was paid to it.

Windows Core OS is mentioned in the documentation with the header Common Data Extensions.utc in the section on basic diagnostic Windows events. There are three entries saying:

  • wcmp The Windows Shell Composer ID.
  • wPId The Windows Core OS product ID.
  • wsId The Windows Core OS session ID.

See for yourself.

What is Windows Core OS? This is a special version of Windows that will work on many different types of devices, including special displays. HoloLens 2 equipment and Surface Hub 2 boards are the first to use it. There is no doubt that it can also be used on folding devices.

The premiere of Windows Core OS should take place in 2020.
