The best COD.
The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare caught my attention with … NVIDIA. The promise of introducing ray tracing and really nice graphics to a series of games that I have associated for years with average visions? It can succeed. And it is hard to resist the impression that the new COD also owes its warm reception to "green". If you have seen the ratings for the latest part of the game on the web, you probably already know that Modern Warfare is one of the highest rated games in the history of the brand.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is mature and fresh
The single player campaign is not long. It is "standard". The duration is 6, maybe 7 hours – but full of action. Plot production leaves something unsatisfied, but the script itself is extremely mature, and the game is not afraid of brutality and even showing sadism. The new Modern Warfare shows what a "modern war" full of violence looks like, which often appears in completely unexpected places and affects completely random people. Screenwriters are balancing on the brink of political correctness. There is no replay of the famous No Russian mission, but I feel that many people will not like some of the events in the game.
The game's action is based on fictitious events, but if you are interested in events on the international stage, then certainly you will find plenty of references to real armed conflicts. In fact, the game does not lack even individual missions that seem to map the real actions of special forces. Somewhere in the background of everything there is a civilian population, the view of which will often stop you from pressing the trigger. I warn you: this will usually result in the death of your character. The opponent does not take prisoners and does not care about "locals".
In my opinion, what Infinity Ward served us is one of the best campaigns in history. Screenwriters can play on emotions, can stress the player and can make him feel almost helpless on a modern battlefield. The world presented in the game is not black and white. It is grey.
The pace of the game is great and the action varies. I was not bored for a moment and didn't get the impression that I was taking part in the same event for the nth time. Example? In one mission you play as a child and you have conversations with several dialogue options. Different? You are storming the enemy ammunition dump, suddenly helicopters appear above your heads. You destroy them with kamikaze planes. You get the goal you want, take the best gun from the magazine, and suddenly a tank emerges before your eyes. How to deal with it? Keep thinking, it won't be easy. Well, the level of difficulty.
Playing at an easy and normal level is not a big challenge. If you are hungry for emotions, try a realistic level. It will allow you full immersion, cleaning the screen of any hints. Artificial Intelligence of Opponents? There is no breakthrough. The difficulty, however, consists of interesting level designs, unpredictability of opponents and the intensity of the screen. Even at a normal level, a player-led character can die in a split second. A good example is one of the first (brilliant!) Missions in London, which for some may prove overwhelming.
NVIDIA made Call of Duty: Modern Warfare look wonderful
New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare I beat and continue to play on a powerful PC with a Core i5-9600K processor, Palit GeForce RTX 2080 Ti chip and 16 GB RAM. Optimization is great, and the game runs smoothly even in maximum detail and after enabling RTX effects … in 4K resolution. Of course, this is not an art on such a computer, but there is no shortage of opinions about smooth (60 frames per second) gameplay in Full HD on cards like RTX 2060 – with maximized effects. Of course you need to enable RTX effects from NVIDIA. Without them, the game would probably not be half as beautiful.
Shadows in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare look as good as they probably do in any other game – even in Metro Exodus, and this is a big compliment. The creators of the game took full advantage of the possibilities offered by NVIDIA technology and each stage has even a small fragment that shows the spectrum of applications of realistic lighting. The light of bulbs and neon lights looks great, as do the lights thrown by flashlights that realistically illuminate the objects in front of them. Apart from the beam of light, everything is as dark as night can be dark. You won't believe it until you see it. It's hard for me to believe what I'm writing, but I can finally write: Call of Duty finally on the day of release looks like the game should set some standards in terms of graphics.
Players using NVIDIA software and features Ansel can take three-dimensional screenshots. The screenshots captured by Ansel sometimes look like photojournalistic photos from the center of the battlefield. NVIDIA function Highlights automatically registers the most interesting situations from the battlefield in the form of short videos – of course you can turn it off.
Co-op mode exists in Modern Warfare in the form of the Spec Ops mission. These are difficult and, to tell the truth, I wasn't in love with them. With a smart and reasonably conducted campaign, they seem a bit too chaotic. For some they will be a good and demanding skimmer, for others … too difficult and annoying horde mode. If you do not have your "homie" to play, then you will have more frustration than emotions. At the same time I have to admit that this mode convinces me a bit more than the zombie mode from the last Black Ops, which was both varied and coarse from the mechanical side at the same time.
Multiplayer fun? Forgive me, but I don't feel up to it yet, it's just too early. I received the key on the day of the premiere, and there are so many modes that it is difficult for me to make any judgments based on several hours of fun. It is worth paying attention to full cross-play between platforms, which can be turned off at any time.
I haven't had so much fun in a long time and you should too
On my example you can see that the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare can be liked not only by fans of the series, but also by those who are very skeptical. If at some stage of your life you crossed out the COD series, then you should give it a try again.
