A new addition to PowerToys tools.
PowerLauncher, because that is the name of the launcher, is to work only on Windows 10 and in a similar way as the spotlight built-in macOS. Software users will be able to enable it using the keyboard shortcut Windows + Spacebar.
As you can see in the screenshots below, after using the abbreviation PowerLauncher is to appear on the screen in the form of a simple search engine. You will be able to customize this search engine to your preferences by enabling or disabling additional built-in functions.
One of such functions is to be a context menu that will allow you to run specific applications as an administrator, open file locations, and more. Others include automatic completion or search history.
The items that can be modified also include the keyboard shortcut to launch the launcher, the type of search, the way the search results are sorted, the number of search results displayed, and the default terminal. The tool will also allow you to map Win + R and Win + S shortcuts so that instead of the Run command and system search engines, they just open PowerLauncher.
For now, work on the PowerLauncher is still ongoing. It is not known when exactly the tool will debut, but it is possible that it will take place within a few weeks. However, keep in mind that some of the features of the launcher described here may change.
We remind you that you can download the Microsoft Power Toys toolkit from our application database.
