EA did not give any reason for the sudden decision (until the end of NFS World is recalled), but the most likely scenario is a dying license. It is worth recalling that the Tetris brand once belonged to Electronic Arts and it seems that the publisher does not want to renew its rights.
Take a look at the statement published in the App Store:
"Hi! We had an amazing journey with you, but unfortunately – it's over. From April 21, 2020, the EA Tetris application will be discontinued and you will no longer be able to play it, as well as several other productions. Please be advised that you will still be able to enjoy the game and use existing items in the game until April 21, 2020. We hope you enjoyed Tetris a lot. Thank you! "
Of course, Tetris fans have no reason to cry. There are plenty of alternatives on the market, such as the great Tetris 99 for the Nintendo Switch console.
